Christmas in Chicago

Last Friday, my husband and I ventured out into the cold winter to do a little shopping at the Macy's on State Street. We had dinner under the giant tree in the Walnut Room, then popped in a few stores on State Street. The picture here is one of the most famous places you see photos of in Chicago...the Chicago Theater. I've lived in the Chicago area all of my life, but I will never ever tire of pictures of the street scenes here. I think this photo shows what this city is all about.

Dreaming of warmer days...

Since we're in the midst of our first block of bitter cold of the season, I've been thinking about warmer days. Dreaming of warmer days, actually. Just one month ago, we were in Jamaica on our honeymoon....enjoying the sunshine, the heat, and the ridiculous humidity. While in Ocho Rios, we climbed Dunns River Falls....a 400 foot climb UP in the waterfall. While I spent the first ten minutes scared out of my mind, I spent the remaining fifty minutes loving what we were doing. All the while, enjoying the time with my new husband.

No day like today!!!

Today, while wasting time at my temp job, surfing on the internet, I happened upon a link to photojojo.com, and caught a glimpse of project365. Simply put, a photo a day for 365 days. I started reading about it, and immediately, a light above my head popped on, and a thought that I NEED to do this. I've always loved taking pictures...but have never really had much time to sink into something that I don't fully comprehend. I'm also the worlds most impatient person, so reading an owners manual on a camera is also something I don't do...even if it takes 3 minutes. I'm an on-the-job learner, meaning...even after spending MANY years in college, I was never really a classroom type person. I need to learn things by doing them, and when I learn them, I excel. I've always been like this. (My college grades are proof of this, trust me.) So, I figure what better reason to learn how to use my new camera than this challenge to myself.

I find that I could not be at a better place in my life than I am right now. A newlywed (24 days to be exact) with a fancy new camera, who is currently between jobs (thank you economy), and sincerely in love with cataloging the moments of my life.

I will warn you...my new husband believes you'll see 365 pictures of our dog, Guinness. My plan here, is to prove him wrong. I'm not saying you WON'T see pictures of the pup, but you will not see 365. Promise.

With that, I thought I would get a small head start and post one of my favorite photos from 2009.
